Fashion and food trends for 2021 according to Pinterest

We recently talked about marketing and positioning on Pinterest and mentioned that one of the main advantages over other social networks is that users are thinking about taking action and actively looking for ideas. Precisely based on these searches, this social platform has presented its Pinterest Predicts report on 2021 trends . To prepare this report, Pinterest has compared searches between October 2018 and September 2019, with searches between October 2019 and September 2020. After analyzing the results, it has presented more than 150 trends that are on the rise and will triumph this year, classified by category or by type of audience . In order not to go on too long, we focus on two sectors that we have recently talked about and in which Pinterest has great potential: fashion and gastronomy :
Fashion : Pinterest has seen an increase in searches for “loungewear,” “loose clothing,” “lightweight outfits,” “women’s cotton jumpsuits,” “women’s two-piece sets,” “puffer clothing,” “comfy style outfits,” “cocoon sweater,” “fuzzy slippers,” “slouch socks”… Pinterest analysts explain that bulk telegram blast users are looking for comfort and advise brands in any sector (whether they are fashion or not) to offer services or content focused on achieving this.
Among Generation Z, there is also a trend towards personalised clothing, with an increase in searches for “ideas for painting jeans”, “transformed clothing”, “embroidered sweatshirt”, “personalised hoodies” and “cloth bag design”. A trend to be taken into account by both fashion brands and companies that sell craft, art and painting materials.
Food : Pinterest has seen an increase in interest in spicy food and special sauces : “tomatillo sauce for enchiladas,” “cajun chicken pasta recipes,” “jalapeño jam recipe,” “spicy honey recipe,” “poke bowl sauce”…
Likewise, there is a notable interest among users in creating restaurant experiences at home (chef-inspired meals, food preparation techniques, side dishes, etc.), with an increase in searches for “food decorations,” “gourmet food assembly,” “Basque cheesecake with burnt cheese,” “homemade tea recipes, bread art.” Beyond food brands, this is an interesting trend for sellers of household items or appliances, among others.
The third food trend that Pinterest has highlighted is food boards to share , especially among millennials and generation Z, with an increase in searches for “sweets board”, “breakfast board”, “dessert board”, “fruit board”, “Mexican board”…
